Google Survey 360 – how does it work and what does it cost

Google Survey 360 – $36,000 per year for a black box

I investigated Google Survey 360 hoping to use if for product research. Its not useful, but here is what I found anyway

They quoted cost of Google Survey 360 is $3000 per month, for a year. So you need to commit to a $36000 annual spend

I will update this if I get a further response from my enquiries to the Google Surveys team

There were 5 main benefits of Google Survey 360 over the normal Google Surveys

Advanced geographic targeting:  Target your surveys by area code. Google 360 Surveys with zip or area code targeting are available in US, UK, Germany, France, Spain and Australia

Occupation and industry targeting: Target your surveys to occupations and industries such as business professionals, healthcare professionals or stay-at-home parents. The rep told me this was no longer offered. But that Google project managers can create a custom panel for me instead. For example like people working for a certain industry

Custom panels: Create a custom panel of respondents who represent the ideal audience for your surveys, such as graduated students in law school. You can revisit that audience for additional surveys in the future, eliminating the need for screening questions. Google Managers do this creation. As far as I can tell, you have to take their word for it

Remarketing: User list targeting allows you to reach the right people at the right time, gain deeper insight into the ‘why’ and ‘how’ to complement campaign metrics and measure campaign awareness

Expanded Question types: Google Surveys have 3 question type while Google Survey 360 has 14.

  1. Single Answer,
  2. Two choices with image,
  3. multiple answer,
  4. multiple answer with image,
  5. rating scale,
  6. rating scale with text,
  7. rating scale with image,
  8. open ended,
  9. numeric open ended,
  10. open ended with image,
  11. side by side images,
  12. menu with image,
  13. large image choice
  14. video surveys

So basically Google Survey 360 have hidden the actually useful targeting and have created a situation where they cant even tell you what the targeting is, but that  a project manager will make some selections in the background, based on what you tell  them about the audience you want. Maybe

I have pasted the questions and answers from support below

6:24 PM
My I know what countries are you looking for?
stephen
6:25 PM

Amiel
6:25 PM
It is available in Australia
stephen
6:25 PM

Amiel
6:26 PM
For Europe it’ll be UK, Germany, France and Spain
stephen
6:26 PM
Thanks
stephen
6:26 PM
So what is the value of 360 then? I can do most of that in normal surveys
Amiel
6:27 PM
Then the Remarketing is based on cookies
stephen
6:27 PM
ah ok
Amiel
6:27 PM
Zip is not available in normal surveys
Amiel
6:27 PM

stephen

Amiel
6:28 PM
Our regular survey can only filter age, gender, and geography by state level
Amiel
6:28 PM
And the regular Google Surveys only has 3 question types available compared to 360 which 14 question types available
stephen
6:29 PM
ah ok, is there anyway to see what they are?
Amiel
6:29 PM
for the question types?
Amiel
6:29 PM
You can check the difference of 360 and google surveys from that link
Amiel
6:29 PM
Regarding the question types
Amiel
6:30 PM
It’s not available in our help center
stephen
6:30 PM

stephen
6:31 PM

Amiel
6:32 PM
Is there anything that you want to clarify?
stephen
6:32 PM
Is there anything else that would justify $36000 a year?
stephen
6:33 PM
The granular targeting was the useful thing
Amiel
6:35 PM
So far that is the update that we have Stephen, the product is still being optimized to accommodate needs by our clients, mainly the main advantage is the targeting option, question type and you will have your own support person to contact
Amiel
6:36 PM
Remarketing can be a useful targeting, it identify certain site visitors based on their cookies
stephen
6:36 PM
Ok, thank you
Amiel
6:36 PM
custom panel is also available where you can create your own representative of ideal audience
Amiel
6:36 PM
That would be an alternative for the occupation and industry targeting
stephen
6:37 PM
Its pretty disappointing, there isnt any use for support etc if I cant get the foundation of targeting the right people first
stephen
6:37 PM
Ok, what options do I have in custom panel to do that?
Amiel
6:37 PM
I apologize Stephen that part of the product is still being updated and we don’t have any specific timeline yet on when it’ll be available
stephen
6:38 PM
no worries, im sure you arent building it 🙂
Amiel
6:38 PM
Our project managers can create a custom panel for you for example like people working for a certain industry
Amiel
6:38 PM
Let me check if I can get the difference
Amiel
6:38 PM
Just give me 2 mins
Amiel
6:39 PM
Hi Stephen
Amiel
6:40 PM
So basically the difference is the occupation and industry targeting, we already have a specific list for the respondents but since it’ll be no longer available you can make use of the custom panels where we need to gather a new list for you depending on your target audience
Amiel
6:40 PM
So yes it can be use as an alternative for Occupation and Industry targeting
stephen
6:41 PM
ok, so how do I specify this target audience?
Amiel
6:42 PM
Our project managers will be the one who will take care of it
Amiel
6:43 PM
It’s being gathered via recruitment survey
stephen
6:44 PM
well, how do I know how to create the recruitment survey? this is like going round in circles
Amiel
6:45 PM
You’re not the one who will create it Stephen, you just need to tell our team the target audience that you want and we will be the one who will create the panel for you and those respondents are being collected or gathered via recruitment survey
stephen
6:46 PM
ok, but I need some information, in able to be able tell you what my target audience is
Amiel
6:47 PM
I apologize Stephen if my answers are not that helpful for you. My information is limited as of the moment what I recommend is to contact our Project Managers for a more in depth explanation of their product
stephen
6:47 PM
and do I get to see the panel makeup afterwards? How do I know its correct? How can I analyse the data?
Amiel
6:48 PM
Stephen I’m sorry but I don’t have an in depth data regarding that matter
stephen
6:49 PM
OK, thanks you for the answers anyway. Ill try the link
